Girard completes auctioneer continuing education certification Ken Girard of Girard Auction Services, Inc. Wakonda, has successfully completed two of the three courses necessary to earn the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) designation, the highest designation awarded in the auction industry.
The program is a three-week, one-week-a-year executive education program designed for decision makers in auction firms and is offered by the Auction Marketing Institute at Indiana University in Bloomington.
Auctioneers must qualify through experience and education to be admitted to the CAI program. In order to earn the designation, auctioneers must complete the three courses, pass examinations for each course, and prepare an acceptable auction summary report. Maintaining the designation requires that one be a member in good standing of the Auction Marketing Institute, the National Auctioneers Association and complete at least 24 hours of continuing education every three years.
Designed to educate and train practicing auctioneers in ways to improve their auction business, the curriculum includes courses in finance, legal aspects of auctioneering, personal property, appraisal, real estate, personal business development, communications and advertising.
Faculty for the program are selected from Indiana University College of Business, professionals who serve the auction industry and nationally recognized auctioneers.
