Golfers earn seventh in Mitchell Invitational Using a thumbnail sketch as a guide, the Tanager girls' golf team, facing an 18-high school team tournament at Mitchell, on Friday April 27, came off with seventh place among the 13 class 11AA schools and four class 11A teams competing.
Coach Kirk Hogen thought the competition was comparable to the Yankton Invitational on a difficult golf course.
"We were able to score well, as a complete team, against some of the best teams in the state," he said.
The top four out of five scores gave Vermillion 397 for 18 holes.
Individual Tanager scores were: Allison Stewart � 89, Karrie Plate � 95, Tabitha Hubert � 101, Jackie Thomas � 112, Ashley Bjorkman � 113, and Megan Deaver � 114.
Stewart placed in the top 10 among the 108 girls in the tournament.
Tournament team scores were: Brookings 351, Mitchell 366, Aberdeen Central 367, Yankton 371, Huron 379, Winner 396, Vermillion 397, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 398, Sioux Falls Lincoln 402, Watertown 405, Madison 415, Rapid City Stevens 416, Sturgis 417, Lennox 418, Pierre 428, Sioux Falls Washington 433, Brandon Valley 456, Todd County 511.
