Junior varsity boys shine at Yankton's QB Relays Seven schools were represented at the Yankton High School 2001 Quarterback Relays on Thursday, April 27: Brandon Valley, Dakota Valley, Hanson County, Lennox, Madison, O'Gorman, Vermillion and Yankton.
No team points were recorded, but there were a couple of bright spots in the sophomore (JV) division as Bart Miller won the 800m run in a time of 2:10.1, and Tyler Brown came in second.
In the 1600M run Craig Powell and Justin Manning placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
Quincy Christie placed first in both the 100m dash (11.2), and 200m dash (23.2). He also won the long jump (20'3") and anchored the winning 4x200m relay team with Jerad Burcham, BJ Reynolds and Bart Miller, in a time of 1:37.5. Jared Burcham placed fifth in the 200m dash, and finished second in the triple jump.
In a really competitive meet, the varsity scored in five events with Tim Brodersen leading the contingent at second place in the discus with a toss of 162'1.5" and Tim Russell placed third.
In the 200m dash, Dan Tolsma placed third. He also had a fourth place finish in the 400m.
In the 800m run, Eric Dehner placed second, but in the 1600m run, Dehner was the winner with a time of 4:29.6.
