Kratz receives leadership award Jennifer Kratz, a University of South Dakota first-year nursing student, has been awarded the Naoma Jackson Nursing Student Leadership and Action Award, presented at the recent Student Nurses Convention in Rapid City.
Kratz has been recognized by student nurses from Augustana College, Dakota Wesleyn University, Huron University, Mount Marty College, Presentation College and South Dakota State University.
The requirement for consideration for this award is a display of dedication in becoming a nurse by the demonstration of high leadership qualities on the national, state, local and community levels, as well as high educational goals and, active participation in the Student Nurses Association.
Kratz was elected to the Nursing Students Association of South Dakota Executive Board as the chairman of the nominations committee for the 2001-02 academic year, and was also elected by her fellow classmates to serve as the president of the USD Student Nurses Association chapter for the 2001-02 academic year.
Kratz is the daughter of John and Margie Schissel and Margaret Melby, all of Vermillion.
