Letters Johnson appreciates feedback from citizens
To the editor:
I want to thank the people of Clay County who met with my staff assistant, Sonja Dean, during her recent outreach day in Burbank and Vermillion. Sonja has updated me on the information and comments that she received from Clay County citizens.
Sonja had the opportunity to meet with a variety of business and community leaders in Clay County. She started her day in Burbank holding traveling office hours at Whimp's. Sonja then met with officials from the various school, town, and county organizations in Vermillion.
My staff's outreach days help me maintain communication with local communities regarding their ongoing development and growth and keep me informed of any issues of concern that they are dealing with. Again, I thank everyone who shared their concerns during these meetings. As always, feel free to contact my office toll free at 1-800-537-0025.

Name the bridge Newmillion
To the editor:
I grew up on a farm northeast of Vermillion, but have lived in the Madison, WI area since 1957. I do not subscribe to the Plain Talk, but my sister, Dorothy Mandsager, who lives in Marshalltown, IA, does. After reading it, she clips interesting articles and sends them on to me. So, among other stories, I have been kept well-informed about the Newcastle/Vermillion bridge being constructed out there.
It seems like I read once about a "naming-contest" for the bridge. If so, it is probably already in the past, but I have not noticed any other name for it yet. So, why not name it the "NEW-MILLION" (or, "NEWMILLION") bridge? I am sure there is no other bridge in the world with that name and it would be much easier to say, and, to print than "Newcastle/Vermillion."
Just a suggestion,
