Local youth test abilities at Diamond Skills competition The Vermillion Jaycees held its annual Diamond Skills competition on Sunday, April 29. A total of 26 kids age 7-14 competed in batting, fielding/throwing, and baserunning competitions.
The winners in each bracket were:
7-8 year olds
All around champion � Cade Weeldreyer; batting champion � Zach Nelson; field/throw champion � Zach Nelson; base-run champion � Cade Weeldreyer.
9-10 year olds
All around champion � Aaron Steele; batting champion � Jordan Robinson; field/throw champion � Aaron Steele; base-run champion � Sam McBride.
11-12 year olds
All around champion � Zach Weiss; batting champion � Nick Rasmussen; field/throw champion � Nick Rasmussen; base-run champion � Ryan O'Connor.
9-10 year olds
All around champion � Josh Boomgaarden; batting champion � Kurt Krammin; field/throw champion � Josh Boomgaarden; base-run champion � Josh Boomgaarden.
