McDougle breaks record at Howard Wood Relays Ronnie McDougle set a new Howard Wood Dakota Relays record and Andrew Neugebauer continued his outstanding outdoor season with another 800-meter title as South Dakota had several strong performances at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls on May 4.
McDougle scorched to a 21.79 in the 200-meters, breaking the record of Tom Green (USD, 22.22, 2000). Green was unable to defend the title as he is redshirting this outdoor season.
In the 200-meter dash, Michael Williams finished fourth (22.36) while Pat Belling was ninth (23.06).
Neugebauer, who was the NCC Outdoor Men's Track Athlete of the Week, won the 800-meter run in 1:50.67, with James Jeffrey finishing fourth in 1:54.27. Lee Lockwood was first in the 400-meter dash in 49.75. Jason Probasco finished second in the 5,000-meter run in 14:51.66 while Adam Lindahl was fourth in 15:14.23.
For the women, Molly Wedel was third in the 1,500-meter run in 4:38.73. The 4×400 relay team finished second in 3:50.53.
Due to weather conditions, competition at the relays ended early Saturday night, May 5. Prior to the weather problems, the South Dakota Coyotes captured four titles and four-second place finishes:
