Obituaries Bert Langford

Bert R. Langford, 87, Vermillion, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at the Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital.

Arrangements are pending with Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion.

Annie Erks

Annie R. Erks, 72, Wakonda, formerly of Yankton, died Monday, May 7, 2001 at Wakonda Heritage Manor, Wakonda.

Arrangements are pending with Ray, Cantrell & Wintz Funeral Home, Yankton.

Herbert Hansen

Herbert B. Hansen, 83, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Sioux Valley Hospital and University of South Dakota Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Services begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Wakonda, with burial in the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hansen Funeral Home in Irene.

Robert Huetson

Robert H. Huetson, 83, Sioux Falls, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Southridge Healthcare Center.

Funeral services were held May 7 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. Interment was in Hills of Rest Memorial Park, Sioux Falls.

He was born March 18, 1918, to Benjamin and Lillian (Spensley) Huetson in Vermillion. He attended University High School in Vermillion.

He married Thelma Deloris Robinson on Nov. 11, 1938. The couple made their home in Vermillion, where he worked as a farmer, mechanic and electrician at The University of South Dakota. He retired from the university in 1980, after 30 years of service. After his retirement, the couple made their home in Sioux Falls. His wife died Oct. 10, 1994.

He was a member of Hilltop United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son: Harlan Huetson and his wife, Elaine, Sioux Falls; one daughter: Karlyn Dorris and her husband, Larry, Nesbit, MS; five grandchildren: Debbra Huetson, Pamela Huetson, Annette Larson and her husband, Craig, Scott Caldwell and his wife, Yvonne, Kelly Caldwell and his wife, Belinda; and five great-grandchildren; Seth Larson, Grant Larson, Ashley Caldwell, Kaitlin Caldwell and Garvin Caldwell; a sister-in-law: Amandice Ness, Lennox; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Dean Huetson.

Clara Ruedebusch

Clara Ellen Ruedebusch, 86, died May 2, 2001 at Sioux Valley Vermillion Care Center.

She was born Dec. 23, 1914, to Truman and Minnie Mallery, of rural Summit. She taught country school after obtaining a teaching certificate from Wessington Springs College in Wessington Springs.

Her personal faith in Jesus Christ was very important to her. She was an active member at the Hillside Community Church where she taught children's Sunday School and was very involved in the Women's Ministry.

On June 27, 1937 she married DeVern Reudebusch at her parents' home. The couple moved to Richwood, MN, where they lived for about three years, then returned to her husband's farm home south of Sisseton, where they farmed until 1957 when they moved to Vermillion.

Her husband, DeVern, died June 24, 1993. Survivors are her two daughters: Arlis Wellman (Eldon) and Karen Akslen (Jon); four grandchildren: Barbara Buchner (Tom), Brenda Frank (Rod), Eric Akslen (Rachel) and Sonja Akslen; seven great-grandchildren; a brother: Arthur Mallery; a sister: Iva Dahl; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held Monday, May 7 at the Hillside Community Church, Vermillion, followed by a memorial service.

Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home in Vermillion was in charge of arrangements.
