Sioux Falls Roughriders blank VHS Tanagers in baseball action; Brandon takes final season game The Tanager baseball team ran into a really tough pitcher in Roosevelt's Casey Jorgensen who struck out 11, walked two, and hit a batter in a seven-inning, no-hit, no-run game played in Sioux Falls on Monday, May 14.

Danny Holoch was the Tanager starter and surrendered only six hits, two base-on-balls, and was backed up in the field by two errors.

Unfortunately, the Vermillion High School offense was non-existent except for Pat Brooks' two on-base trips by a walk and a hit-by-pitch, and BJ Campbell's walk.

Holoch was charged with the loss, pitching five innings, striking out five. Rob Schaack relieved and pitched two shut-out innings.

Line scores: Sioux Falls Roosevelt � 6 runs, 6 hits, 0 errors; Vermillion � 0 runs, 0 hits, 2 errors.

In a second game � played on Tuesday, May 15 at Prentis Park � Brandon went away with a 10-3 win. Drew Lawrence was the starting pitcher, going four innings after suffering a disastrous first when the Lynx scored seven runs on five hits, two BB, and an error, then holding them to one in his fourth and final inning.

Ryan Nelson relieved and worked two-plus innings giving up two walks in the seventh inning, turning the relief role over to Jeremy Yankton who walked two and gave up a two-run producing hit before retiring the side.

Offensively � Jeff Gilbertson went one for four with two RBI. Lawrence, Pat Brooks and Josh Kyte each had one hit in three at-bats, and Dave Hanson had two at-bats with one hit.

Line scores: Brandon � 10 runs, 6 hits, 3 errors; Vermillion � 3 runs, 5 hits, 1 error.
