Tanager golfers capture Big 8 Conference crown The Tanager girls' golf team won the Big 8 Conference tournament last Friday, May 4 against Lennox and Madison for their annual competition.
The play took place at the Lenkota Golf Course in Lennox.
The VHS girls placed first with a 356 score, while Lennox took second with 389 and Madison was third at 396.
Vying for medalist honors were the Bulldog's Liz Wenk and Tanager Allison Stewart, both with 80 for the 18-hole match. In the playoff of the tie, Stewart prevailed and was awarded the first place medal.
Tanager scoring results were: Stewart � 80, Karrie Plate � 89 (third place tie) with Tabitha Hubert � 89, Brooke Nelson, and Ashley Bjorkman � 98 each.
Plate won the one-hole playoff for the third place medal, and every member of the team is eligible for the conference championship medal.
The JV tournament matches gave a different result as the Tanagers came in second with a 446 to the Lennox Orioles' first place score of 440, while Madison's 470 placed them third.
VHS junior varsity individual scoring: Jackie Thomas �107, Dru VanKley �110; Nicole Veitz � 111; Megan Deaver � 118; and Kaylie Heesch � 125.
