VHS girls' track team has field day at Yankton Eight schools were represented at the Yankton High School 2001 Quarterback Relays on Thursday, April 27: Brandon Valley, Dakota Valley, Hanson County, Lennox, Madison, O'Gorman, Vermillion, and Yankton.
No team points were recorded but the Tanager girls' track team had some great results in several events:
Field events: Sarah Mollet placed fifth in the shot put; in the high jump, Jaclyn Powell was second and Annie Carlson placed fifth; Nicole Pederson won the triple jump (33'4"); and Powell finished in second, while Carlson was fourth.
Morgan Brooks finished fifth in the 400m dash, and Brittany Gilkyson placed third in the 800m run. The 1600m run found Megan Griffith and Natalie Tuetken coming in at fourth and fifth, respectively.
The medley relay team claimed fourth place (Beth Pier, Brooks, Tessa Tuetken and Gilkyson).
The JV division was comprised of sophomore or younger competitors, and the results for the Tanager girls were excellent, considering the other teams entered.
Katie Miskimins was fourth in the 100m hurdles, and third in the 300m hurdles. Annie Carlson was third in the 200m dash, and Kayla Mollet was fifth in the 400m dash.
Nicki Mollet placed fourth in the 800m run, while Katie Dehner won the 1800m in 16:16.4
The 4x400m relay team of Kayla Mollet, Katie Miskimins, Lindsay Dunkenson and Brooke Johnson broke the finish line in first place timed at 4:42.2.
