VMS boys' track teams led by Kabambi, Mollet The Vermillion Middle School Big 8 Triangular, involving Lennox, Madison and Vermillion, was conducted last Monday, May 14, and found the seventh-grade Redbirds placing in 10 events.
Placers for the seventh-grade boys were:
In field events: Shot put � Dan Mollet, fourth; discus � Mollet, fourth; long jump � Randy Kabambi, first (16'2"); high jump � Kabambi, third.
In the dashes: 100M � Kabambi, first (12.97); 200M � Kabambi, first (27.5), Kyle Hubert, fourth; 400M � Ben Rogge, third; 110M hurdles � Hubert, first (19.8), Michael Preszler, second, and Glen Foltz, fourth.
Long distance runs: 800M � Danny Redlin, third; 1600M � Redlin, third.
No relay team was entered by the seventh graders.
The eighth-grade Rebirds had placers in 10 events, also. Results for the eighth-grade boys were:
Field events: Shot put � Jordan Anderson, second; long jump � Kyle Mollet, second, Sean Pederson, third.
In the dashes: 100M � Mollet, first (12.3), Pederson, second, Anderson, fourth; 200M � Ryan Mockler, fourth; 400M � Chris Teigen, third, Jason Donald, fourth; 110M high hurdles � Chris Teigen, fourth.
Long distance races: 800M run � Chad Teigen, first (2:20.5), JJ Lamie, second, Jon Miller, fourth; 1600M run � LaMie, first (5:41.5), Miller, third.
The 4x100M relay placed second with members Anderson, Ben Oberle, Pederson and Mollet.
