Record up to 10-4 for Post #1 In what might be considered a mistake, the Vermillion Legion Post #1 baseball team defeated Canton Post #53 when the duo of pitchers Danny Holoch and Adam Brooks kept the visitors hitless for a 15-4 decision on Friday, June 15, at Prentis Park.
Holoch started and pitched the first four innings, giving up no hits while registering nine strike outs and walking four. He got credit for the win. Brooks pitched the final four innings, giving up no hits, contributing seven Ks and three bases on balls.
The runs came when wild pitching and committed errors converged. They were scored in four different innings and were all unearned (two for each pitcher).
Line scores: Vermillion 15 runs, 16 hits, 3 errors; Canton 4 runs, 0 hits, 3 errors.
The offense was led by Tim Brodersen who was four for five, scored four runs and one RBI. Eric Rickord was on base four times, scoring three runs and one RBI. Tyler Vacek scored twice, going two for five.
