Shrine receives DAR grant The board of directors of the Mary Chilton DAR Foundation recently awarded grants in the amount of $25,200.
The grants were made to the Armour Carnegie Library to help with a roof restoration project; the Veterans Memorial Fund in Hartford for a Veterans Memorial honoring their local veterans of all wars; America's Shrine to Music Museum to produce a compact disc of Felix Vinatieri music; Adams Museum & House, Inc. to prepare and present an on-going interpretive dramatic program depicting a contentious 1914 mayoral election in Deadwood involving W.E. Adams; and the Hazel L. Meyer Memorial Library in De Smet to help with cleaning and restoration of two original Harvey Dunn oil paintings.
The foundation was created by the Mary Chilton Chapter, Sioux Falls, of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, to support historic preservation.
, education and patriotism in the Sioux Falls community and the state of South Dakota. Grants are awarded three times each year.
