South Dakota Youth Conference June 5-8 The South Dakota State 4-H Council Ambassadors are sponsoring and conducting the 2001 State Youth Conference, June 5-8, on the campus of South Dakota State University.
Registration will be accepted up until the day of the event.
With the theme "Fun in the Sun 2001," this year's event promises new and exciting events, learning opportunities and workshops, according to Mary Ellen Aamot, SDSU Extension 4-H youth development specialist and Council Ambassador advisor.
Participants will have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning through a variety of sessions ranging from learning how to finance a car to riding a mechanical bull, from body building to massage and relaxation techniques.
Youth will have the choice to select a long-term track of their choice, based on topics of video, sportfishing, ROTC, physical training and sports medicine, and visual arts.
All attendees will enroll in six short-term workshops, with the choices of: bicycle adventures, photography and scrap-booking, small engines, farm safety, theater and dance, true colors, foods and nutrition, sportfishing, animal science, and relaxation.
In addition to learning activities, three dances, a picnic, all-night movies, a hypnotist and semi-formal banquet complete the schedule.
State Youth Conference is open to any and all youth, ages 13-19, regardless of affiliation with 4-H. The total registration fee for the conference is $175, with $75 pre-registration and $100 due at time of arrival.
