Thompson chosen for leadership program Ashley Thompson, a junior at Vermillion High School in 2000-2001, has been selected to participate in an Economics for Leaders program being conducted the University of Washington, Seattle, July 1-8.
Thompson is one of 30 students from around the country who is honored by being accepted into the Seattle Economics for Leaders program, sponsored by the Foundation for Teaching Economics, a Davis, CA, nonprofit foundation. All of the students have been selected because they have demonstrated leadership potential.
The week-long course combines leadership training and economics. Students learn an economic way of thinking about human behavior and experience the interaction of different leadership styles within a group. As a result, they develop a clearer insight into how the world works, knowledge that is especially helpful to those aspiring to leadership positions.
