Vermillion is 10-run rule victor over Alcester team Vermillion's Legion Post #1 baseball team, sparked by the great pitching performance of Ryan Nelson, had an easy 11-1 victory over the Alcester Legion team in a home game played on Tuesday, June 12 at Prentis Park.
Nelson started and pitched six innings, giving up one hit while registering eight strike-outs and walking none, getting credit for the win. The only run was the result of a wild pitch strike-out, a stolen base and a fielder's choice ground-out.
Line scores: Vermillion � 11 runs, 11 hits, 1 error; Alcester � 1 run, 1 hit, 3 errors.
The offense was led by Brett Mockler who was three for three batting, scored three runs and had an RBI. Adam Brooks went two for three, scored twice and had one RBI. Pat Brooks was two for three, scoring two runs.
Tyler Vacek, in a designated batter's role, scored once, going two for four, driving in one. Eric Rickord had a pinch hit double, driving in two runs and scoring a run. BJ Campbell went one for two, with one RBI, and Drew Lawrence scored the other run.
The season record stands at 8-4 as the team went into a double header against Canton on Friday, June 15.
