Welcome Table to serve meal June 4 The Welcome Table is a community project with the purpose of serving supper once a month to anyone who feels the need for good food and a place of welcome.
Volunteers from four Vermillion churches have joined together to organize the first meal that will be served at the First United Methodist Church, 16 N. Dakota Street, on Monday, June 4. The meal will be served from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The meal will consist of ham, baked potato, salad, homemade bread and a dessert and will be served to the guests by volunteers. There will be no charge for the meal.
The Welcome Table is a meal patterned after the Banquet in Yankton and Sioux Falls, and whose purpose is to offer the gift of hospitality to all.
Plans call for serving a hot meal on these dates this summer: Monday, June 4, Monday, July 9, and Monday, Aug. 6. The group hopes to reevaluate the success of these meals with the intention of serving meals throughout the year.
Groups interested in serving in the future may contact John and Carol Lushbough at 624-4159.
