Clay County 4-H'ers participate in contests The Clay County 4-H Demonstration, Illustrated Talk, and Public Speaking contests were held Friday, July 6 at the 4-H Center in Vermillion. Eight members participated in the contests.
Purple ribbon winners giving illustrated talks were Kathryn Strom of Beresford, and Dean Miller and Emily Miller of Wakonda. JoAnna Strom of Beresford, and Kyle Hubert of Vermillion, received blue ribbons on their illustrated talks.
Those receiving purple ribbons for public speaking were Ellen Kennedy and Michelle Rydell of Vermillion, and Dean Miller and Emily Miller of Wakonda. Leslie Larson of Vermillion, received a blue ribbon.
Purple ribbon winners will advance to the South Dakota State Fair competition in Huron between July 30 and Aug. 5.
Cheryl Jacobs of Elk Point, and Creighton Thurman of Vermillion, served as judges for the Youth in Action event.
