Engelking named USD Employee of the Month For more than 15 years, Ellen Engelking has been providing outstanding service, knowledge and generosity during her job in the registrar's office at The University of South Dakota.
These qualities have earned her the recognition of July Career Service Employee of the Month.
Engelking, who now serves as acting assistant registrar, was nominated for the award by the heads of each department in the College of Arts and Sciences and USD Registrar Ray Pospisil.
"As far as I am concerned, Ellen has been the university's employee of the decade," Pospisil said. "Ellen provides excellent service to all elements of the university students, faculty, staff and administration. No one deserves to be honored for this more than she."
Engelking, who first came to USD in 1986, has been an expert of the Data-Tel system at the university. She has provided technical support for countless fellow employees. Since 1998, Engelking has coordinated the publishing of each semester's class schedule of classes.
"We wouldn't have classes here at USD without Ellen it's as simple as that," said LeAnne Schaefbauer, chair of the Department of Communications Disorders. "The Registrar's office is one of the most busy and stressful offices on campus. Yet, Ellen is one of those people who you know you can call and always feel like your problem is important, and she will take the time to help you."
