Lawrence holds Freeman hitless for eight innings Vermillion's Post #1 baseball team hosted Freeman Post #248 in a nine-inning game on Wednesday, July 11 at Prentis Park.
In an error-marred contest, Vermillion's Drew Lawrence's pitching was almost overlooked. He held the opponents hitless for eight innings, surrendering a single in the ninth. He struck out 14 batters and walked six, and was charged with five runs (four unearned).
Conversely, pitcher Garrett Pfeiffer for Freeman, pitched seven innings giving up five runs on eight hits before being relieved by Mitch Wohlman. He was charged with the loss when two runs on three hits in the eighth by the home team was enough to give Vermillion a somewhat tarnished 7-5 win.
