Tea Legion falls 6-4 in in second with Post #1 Vermillion's Post #1 Legion team had little difficulty at Tea's baseball field in the nine-inning contest played Friday, July 6.
Drew Lawrence was the starting pitcher and the team built a four-run lead after three innings. Lawrence had eight strikeouts, holding the home team hitless during his turn on the mound, giving him the win.
Dan Holoch took over in relief and duplicated the strikeout total of eight, but gave up four hits and four runs during his stint, yet was credited with a save.
Line scores: Vermillion 6 runs, 7 hits, 6 errors (5PB); Tea 4 hits, 4 runs, 4 errors.
The runs scored by Tea were all unearned as the errors and a walk were the major contributors to them.
The offense was led by Tim Brodersen's one-run, three-RBI production on two for three hitting, including a home run. Ryan Nelson, Adam Brooks and Jeff Gilbertson each scored one run.
Pat Brooks scored twice with one for four batting. Lawrence and BJ Campbell each went one for two, and Holoch was one for one with one RBI. Tyler Vacek and Campbell were also each credited with an RBI.
The victory gives Post #1 a 16-9 record so far this season.
