Teeners continue string of losses; fall to Alcester The Vermillion Teeners baseball team faced the Alcester Teener club on Wednesday, June 27 in Alcester.
Their scheduled game at Wagner on June 26 was postponed due to weather problems.
Vermillion fell behind 3-2 after three innings, and 5-4 after the middle of the sixth. They then lost the chance for a comeback when Alcester had five players cross the plate with the aid of five errors, two walks and a hit.
Brad Schaack started and went four innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out two. Max Swanson relieved and went the rest of the game. He was charged with seven runs (many of which were not attributed to him) and two hits, registering two K's.
Line scores: Alcester � 10 runs, 8 hits, 4 errors; Vermillion � 4 runs, 5 hits, 8 errors.
The Vermillion offense consisted of one hit each by Swanson and Schaack, and three singles by Brian Varns.
Varns and Schaack each had two RBI. Matt Kallsen, Michael Fox, Danny Gilbertson and Swanson each scored a run.
The team's season record stands at 1-7.
