Golfers invited to play in tourney of champs The final KELO-Parline Junior Golf Tournament was held on Monday, July 30 at Brandon Golf Course.
There were nine entrants from Vermillion, out of nearly 100 juniors from the surrounding three-state viewing area.
The 11 and under boys' section found Jordan Boots in second place with a score of 45. Brock Gauer and Alex Schaack were in the section but did not place.
In the 12-13 age boys' group, playing a regular 18-hole round, Donny Stewart at 87, and Jack Higgins at 101, were non-placers.
The 14- and 15-year-old boys played an 18-hole round and Nathan Boots scored a 73 but it was not good enough to earn him a high place. Brad Schaack shot an "out-of-the-money" 80.
The 16 and 17 age boys' group had Rob Schaack scoring a 75, too high for a place. The 16-17 age girls' section had a second place finish for Allison Stewart who scored 74.
Vermillion youth invited to play in the Tournament of Champions at the Brookings Country Club on Aug. 6 were Stewart and Alex Schaack. The invitation was extended to four golfers in each division who had earned the most points throughout the KELO-Parline tournaments.
