Hometown golfers earn first place at Springfield The Springfield Golf Course hosted its annual Junior Golf Tournament on Thursday, Aug. 2 with 44 entrants.

Four Vermillion junior golfers earned first places in several age groupings.

The 10- and 11-year-old boys' division was won by Brock Gauer when he scored a 43 in the nine-hole match. Alex Schaack placed third with a 51.

In the 12- and 13-year-old boys' group, playing a regular nine-hole round, Jack Higgins had a 49 for second place.

The 14- and 15-year-old boys played an 18-hole round and Nathan Boots won first with a 78. Adam Brunick had 86 for third and Christopher Moen placed fourth with an 88.

The 18 and under boys' group was won by Rob Schaack who scored a 76, while the 18 and under girls' section had a one-two finish with Allison Stewart scoring 78 for first and Karrie Plate gaining second place.

Other Vermillion youth competing in the tournament but not placing were: 9 and under � Eric Ustad; 10-11 � Mikal Ustad; 12-13 � Kyle Brunick and Donnie Stewart; and 14-15 � Brad Schaack and Charles Odson.
