Irene man arrested on charges for drugs, child pornography by M. Jill Karolevitz David Christensen, 41, Irene, has been indicted on felony drug possession and child pornography charges.
Acting on a protection order, the Clay County Sheriff's department went to Christensen's residence July 2 to retrieve several guns.
"We took seven guns, including three assault rifles, which were all legal, and 3,500 rounds of ammunition," said Deputy Andy Howe. "While we were there, we saw evidence of drugs and got a search warrant."
The search, also conducted July 2, resulted in the discovery of felony amounts of marijuana, including growing equipment and potted plants. The deputies also found "what appeared to be child pornography, which was also confiscated," Howe said.
Another search warrant was needed to view the suspicious video tapes. Once that occurred, law enforcement officials found sufficient evidence of child pornography, Howe said.
Christensen was arrested July 16. His case was presented to the Clay County Grand Jury July 30, and he has been charged with 77 counts of child pornography, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently in custody at the Clay County Jail.
