Leadership Vermillion seeking nominations The Vermillion area is looking for a few good leaders. Leadership Vermillion is seeking nominations for a leadership development course, scheduled to begin in October, that aims to inspire a new generation of leaders to take an active role in local affairs.
Leadership Vermillion, developed by a partnership of the Vermillion Development Company, the Vermillion Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Farber Center for Civic Leadership, is designed to provide participants with the information, skills, and resources necessary for effective community leadership.
The course meets once a month for eight months to introduce its members to area civic and political leaders, local aspirations and plans, assets, and institutions and processes.
Emphasis is on understanding the challenges facing the Vermillion area and gaining the necessary information, skills, and contacts to become a force for positive change in community life.
The program is open to anyone who lives or works in the greater Vermillion area including Clay County and the Newcastle-Ponca area of Nebraska. Individuals who are interested in making a difference in civic or political life may apply for admission, or employers and others may nominate people for consideration. There is no charge for participation.
Participants in Leadership Vermillion will be chosen based on their genuine interest in making their community a better place to live and their commitment to taking an active role in public life.
An executive committee made up of representatives of the Vermillion Development Company, the Vermillion Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Farber Center will make final selections from among applicants. A maximum of 15 individuals will be chosen on a competitive basis.
