Magazine to spotlight Vermillion Vermillion will be the featured town in the November/December issue of South Dakota Magazine.
Writer Laura Graber and managing editor Jerry Wilson will spend several days in the university city to meet residents, take photographs, snoop around Vermillion's unique businesses, tourist attractions and historical sites, and to sample the local cuisine.
Vermillion is the latest South Dakota town to be explored in the popular "Towns We Like" section of the statewide magazine.
"Vermillion is long overdue," said editor and publisher Bernie Hunhoff. "We want to take a closer look at why so many residents of Vermillion wouldn't live anywhere else."
"We hope to learn more about Vermillion's rich heritage," said Graber, a Freeman area resident who will write the Vermillion story. "But we're equally interested in finding out how the city is changing, learning what attracts so many visitors and meeting as many of the people of Vermillion as we can.
"About all I knew of Vermillion was The University of South Dakota, but I'm finding that this historic river city is full of interesting people and unique places to visit," she added.
