Rettig joins radio news staff Yankton/Vermillion Radio station KVHT-FM/MIX 106 has added veteran newsman Lee Rettig to its staff.
Rettig began his news duties for Culhane Communications July 2. He joins Randy Hammer, South Dakota Broadcaster of the Year, and long-time sports announcer, Joe Van Goor, for the top-rated morning "Wake-Up Show."
"We decided we wanted to make a major impact with our local and area news programming, and Lee was the individual we felt could help us achieve that goal," said station manager Kevin Culhane. "Lee's experience in the market, his news sense, and his contacts in South Dakota and Nebraska have taken our already popular programming to another level. We're very fortunate to have someone with Lee's experience heading up our news department."
Rettig had been covering southeast South Dakota and northeast Nebraska news for more than four years for the Yankton-based KYNT/KK93.
"I'm glad to have made the switch," said Rettig. "With the move to MIX 106, I get to stay in Yankton, keep covering the news, and work with the same contacts, all while being part of a highly popular morning show."
He came to Yankton in February 1997, after previously working in news at radio stations in Waseca and Forest Lake, MN. Rettig has been a broadcast professional since 1992.
