Soccer season opens on the road for Tanager boys', girls' teams Both the Tanager girls' and boys' varsity soccer teams were in action on the road Aug. 25.

Playing in the A Division, the Lady Tanagers traveled to Yankton to take on the Rapid City schools. In the first game, the Tanagers fell to Central 6-0.

Playing Stevens in the second match of the day, the Tanagers were dominated by the visitors and were defeated 12-1. Freshman Sandi Winckler scored the lone goal on the day for the Tanagers, who are now 1-3 on the season.

The Tanager boys were in Mitchell for B Division competition, where they defeated Lead-Deadwood in their season opener by a score of 4-3. In the second match, the Tanagers were overcome by Mitchell 6-1. Freshman Sean Pederson scored all four goals on the day, while senior Adam Passick tended goal throughout for the Tanagers.
