Tanager golf team faces Canton at home

Tanager golf team faces Canton at home After a fifth place finish at the West Central Invite, the Tanager golf team looked forward to a dual match against Canton on Monday, Aug. 20 at The Bluffs.

The young golfers were "psyched up" for a complete varsity and JV competition, however Canton brought only seven players so the non-varsity competition became an intramural match for the rest of the team.

The varsity results show VHS winning 166-194 in the nine-hole match.

Scores for Vermillion individuals were: Rob Schaack 39, Brad Schaack 40, Chris Moen 42, Nathan Boots 45, Darren Martin and Ryan Powell 53 each.

Co-medalists were Rob Schaack and Canton's Phil Andela.

The JV scores were: Joel Anderson and Jack Higgins 45 each; Dan Pearson 47; Paul Timms and Charles Odson 50 each; Jared Bates 56; and Steve Timms 60.

Those scores were recognized and recorded for future evaluations by coach Kirk Hogen who expects rapid improvement in the next competition.
