Winds of Freedom will perform Sept. 22 The United States Air Force Heartland of America Band is proud to present the Winds of Freedom, a woodwind quintet composed of members of the concert band.
The group performs for military as well as civilian audiences in a number of different settings around the Upper Midwest. Their program offers a variety of classical, jazz and standard quintet music from Kleine Kammermusik to Humorous Bagatelles.
Stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, NE, the Heartland of America Band provides musical support for official military functions and community relations programs. The band is responsible for a geographical area encompassing the states of Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Kansas, North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota � more than 600,000 square miles, the largest of any stateside Air Force band.
The quintet performs Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Farber Hall, historic Old Main, University of South Dakota campus. The performance is a free public concert sponsored by the USD College of Fine Arts and the Vermillion Area Arts Council.
