Vermillion High School softball wins two more The Vermillion High School girls' softball team won two more in Sioux Falls Sept. 9 to go 4-0 for the season.
Vermillion played a great defensive game and defeated Lennox 11-2, with Britta Wohlfaurt pitching a one hitter. Vermillion hit the ball very well with Dani Weydert going 3-3 with one double and two singles.
"Dani has hit the ball very well this season; she is a great leadoff hitter batting an average of .875," said Coach Brandhagen. "Our pitching has also been outstanding with Britta Wohlfaurt and Laura Frye giving up only 14 hits in the first four games. They also have great defense behind them."
Sandy Bouck, Whitney Tolsma, Colette Joy and Laura Frye all had hits for Vermillion.
In the second game, Vermillion played rival West Central and beat them 12-1. Frye pitched a full game, giving up only one run and three hits. Vermillion had some great hitting from Frye, who had two singles, Tolsma who had a double, and Sandy Bouck, Noel Harden and Wohlfaurt who all had singles.
Weydert hit a single to keep her hit streak alive with base hits in her first four games.
