Yankton falls to Vermillion High School boys' golf team by Jim Prosser Kirk Hogen, Vermillion High School golf coach, was happy for the win over the Yankton Bucks at The Bluffs in play on Friday, Aug. 31.
"Any time we can outscore a double A school like Yankton, we'll take it, even if it's close," he said. "Nathan (Boots) found his 'A' game and contributed as I expected."
The 18-hole dual match had Vermillion with a team score of 322, while the Bucks registered a 323. Boots led the team with a 73. Rob Schaack scored 76, Brad Schaack had an 86 and Chris Moen was at 87. Jack Higgins had 104 and Joel Anderson had 106.
Medalist with a score of 72 was Yankton's Brady Bulian for the varsity match. The JV medalist was also from Yankton, K.C. Baldwin, with a 75.
The Bucks JV team overpowered the young Tanager JVs 322-402.
Vermillion individual scoring was: Darren Martin, 96; Charles Odson, 99; Paul Tims, 100; Dan Pearson, 107; Steve Foltz, 114; Jared Bates, 115; Steve Tims, 124; and Sage Koch, 131.
