Bede Art Gallery features USD art student's works Bede Art Gallery on the Mount Marty College campus in Yankton, will feature Jo Stanage of Vermillion in October.

Stanage's art work will be on display through Oct. 26 with a gallery reception and talk Oct. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Stanage is a senior student at The University of South Dakota, and is working toward her bachelor of fine arts degree in painting. The title of Stanage's art show is "Spiritual Explorations" and is comprised of abstract works in oil, acrylic and mixed media.

Stanage uses various colors and media to express her ongoing search for spiritual meaning, and her "paintings are about man's historical relationship with God," she said. Stanage added that her paintings are "romantic."

Warm colors, abstraction, and figurative elements predominate her work, and texture plays an important role in making the paintings come alive to the audience.

The art exhibit is free and open to everyone, as is the gallery reception and talk.
