Busy October for Pride of Vermillion The Pride of Vermillion Marching Band has been very busy the last two Saturdays.
On Oct. 6, the Pride marched at the River City Band Festival in Chamberlain. They received second place in Class IV in field and parade competitions. The band ranked fourth in Sweepstakes for all classes behind Luverne, MN, Aberdeen Central and Chamberlain.
Last Saturday, the Pride performed in the Dakota Days parade in Vermillion. The band was awarded second place in Class A.
The Pride of Vermillion will be performing at the Quad-State Field Marching Competition in the DakotaDome on Saturday, Oct. 20. The competition starts at 10 a.m. The Pride "takes the field" at 11:20 a.m. The bands competing for the Class AA crown this year are Lennox, Vermillion, Pipestone, MN, and Madison.
The last performance for the Pride of Vermillion Marching Band for the 2001 season will be Monday, Oct. 22 in the VHS Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. The annual "Music Booster's Apple Polishing Concert" will also feature the Freshman Women's Chorus and the VHS Concert Choir. Admission for this concert is free and all are encouraged to attend.
