Friends of Vermillion Public Library seek new members, plan book sale The Friends of the Vermillion Public Library encourage new and inactive members to attend the regular meeting Oct. 9.
The fall used book sale Oct. 18-20, nominations for officers and other projects will be discussed.
"The Friends' used book sale is our most popular special event and our biggest fund raiser," said Mary Waller, treasurer. "It allows us to support the Summer Reading Program, put on the annual Literary Luncheon and special equipment purchases, such as a DVD player for the library."
"We need many volunteers to set up, run the sale and sort books during set-up and closing, but it doesn't require a lot of time," added Steve Waller, another Friends member.
"Our used book sales are very popular with our patrons and a great way to support reading in our community, " said Librarian Jane Larson.
The group meets the second Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the South Dakota Room at the library on Church Street. New members are always welcome. For more information, call the library at 677-7060 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
