Golf ends with state tourney by Jim Prosser While the Tanager golf team had an incomplete contingent at the 2001 State A Golf Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 8-9 at the Central Valley Golf Course in Hartford, they still made their presence known.
Thirteen schools were represented in the first State Class A division to be held. Nine full teams competed for the championship trophy with Madison copping the top spot with a 627 score.
Medalist for the two-day tourney, with the lowest score, was Mark Moller from Hot Springs who had a 149. The best scores for the first 20 individuals were recognized as All State golfers.
Vermillion's Rob Schaack was tied for eighth at 162, and Nathan Boots scored a 168 for 17th place, qualifying them for All State honors. Brad Schaack was tied for 25th out of the 53 competitors in the meet.
