Light Springs to perform music at benefit dinner Light Springs will provide the entertainment for the annual Benefit Dinner for Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion.
The event begins at 1 p.m. and will conclude approximately 3:15 p.m. A full dinner will be served.
Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling Jill Gronewold at LSS at 1-800-568-2401 ext. 106. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 816 E. Clark Street.
Light Springs features four brothers and sisters of the Voznyuk family. The group will sing songs of faith in English and their native Ukrainian in four-part harmony.
Having fled religious persecution as Christians in the Ukraine, the Voznyuks have been likened to the singing Von Trapp family of The Sound of Music. They have just completed work on their first recording since moving to the United States, and are increasingly in demand to perform throughout the area.
The purpose of the dinner is to raise funds to support services offered by LSS in southeastern South Dakota. LSS has offices in Vermillion and Yankton as well as at Woodfield Center in Beresford.
To cover the cost of the event, tickets are $8.50. Pledges or contributions will be requested to support LSS services in the area.
