Medical center's ice cream social successful Over 400 adults and children attended the annual Dakota Hospital Association & Foundation Community Ice Cream Social at Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Center on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
They took part in a number of health screenings, games, cake walk, and a picnic supper on the grounds of the Sioux Valley Vermillion Care Center. Over $775 was raised for the disaster relief fund in New York City and Washington, DC which will be administered through the United Way.
"We were very pleased with the turn out and the opportunity to have all the generations of Vermillion come together to celebrate our great community health care center and help out those in need," said Gene Lunn, new president of the Dakota Hospital Association and Foundation Board of Directors.
Following the ice cream social, the Dakota Hospital Association and Foundation held its annual meeting. Fern Kaufman, outgoing president, William Dendinger, M.D., chief of staff, and John Paulson, chief executive officer, provided reports. A financial update was also provided.
Association members elected Lunn to a second term on the board of directors and Hazen Bye for a first full term. Kaufman was recognized for her three years of leadership as president of the board of directors at the meeting.
Other Dakota Hospital Association and Foundation Board members are John Gors, Wayne Heckathorn, F.M. "Bud" Marshall, Dendinger, Keith Thomas, Barb Yutrzenka and Roxi Miller.
Following the annual meeting, officers were elected for board of directors. They are President Gene Lunn, Vice President John Gors, Secretary/Treasurer Roxi Miller and Past President Fern Kaufman.
"We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead at our medical center," Lunn said. "We have added a significant number of new services, established a sound financial base for our operation and are pleased to be seeing such a positive response to our Foundation Builders Club Program."
