Merit program names local commended students

Merit program names local commended students Vermillion High School Principal Doug Tuetken has announced that Jonathon Rusch and Mark Rusch have been named commended students in the 2002 National Merit¨ Scholarship Program.

A letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to these scholastically talented seniors.

Approximately 34,000 commended students throughout the nation were recognized for exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2002 competition for merit scholarship awards, commended students placed among the top 5 percent of more than one million students who entered the 2002 competition by taking the 2000 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
