Music, mission festival planned by Lutherans The congregations of the Southeast Conference of the South Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America are sponsoring the first annual M & M's Festival (Music and Mission Festival).
The Music Festival will be held Sunday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion, and will feature choirs and other musical groups representing Lutheran congregations from Beresford to Vermillion to Yankton.
All of the singers, a brass group, a handbell choir, the organ and the audience will join under the direction of the Rev. Martin Ganschow (pastor at Gayville and Bergen Lutheran churches) for the singing of the festival anthem, The Head that Once Was Crowned. The Rev. Jeff Sorensen, assistant to the bishop for the South Dakota Synod, will bring a "Word of Hope" and lead prayers for our nation and our land. An offering will be taken for the ELCA Domestic Disaster response for the Sept. 11 attack on our nation.
Following the Music Festival, a Mission Festival, under the coordination of the Rev. Erica Lehmann (pastor at Vangen Lutheran of Mission Hill) will be held in Trinity's Fellowship Hall. Trinity is providing a light supper in conjunction with the Mission Festival.
The general public is invited to attend.
