Tanager golfers enter region tourney by Jim Prosser The Tanager boys' golf team came up short at the 2001 Region 1A tournament on Monday, Oct.1 at Madison Country Club in Lennox.

Eight schools entered five-member teams with the chance to advance to the state tournament.

The three teams with the lowest score and 2/3 of the individual entrants' low scores qualified for the first Class A State Golf Meet. Unfortunately, Vermillion came in fourth, behind Madison, Lennox, and Milbank, and only three members of the team were in the top 30 of the 40 participants.

Medalist for the meet was Paul Green from Madison with a score of 77. Rob Schaack was tied for second at 78. Brad Schaack placed seventh with an 84, and Nathan Boots scored a 90 for 16th place.

Other Vermillion representatives were Ryan Powell and Joel Anderson who missed the cut and a trip to state.
