VHS cross country teams run well at West Sioux by Jim Prosser The Vermillion High School cross country team traveled to the West Sioux Invitational Oct. 5. Eric Dehner garnered first place in the varsity boys' division.
The VHS JV girls' team came in first, while the JV boys garnered fifth place.
"The JV girls runners are this week's outstanding runners," said coach Josh Roberts. "They ran together as a team and came out victorious!"
"Our team ran like never before this week," Dehner said. "We will use that as confidence for regions."

Coach Roberts said the West Sioux meet was a great way to end the regular season.
"The kids performed very well after our last really tough week of workouts," he said. "Now it is time to begin our taper so that we run even better in our final two big races."
Next week the team faces Lennox at the region meet.
"They have quality boys' and girls' teams," Roberts said. "I know we will be ready for the challenge. Both the boys' and girls' teams are right on pace to finish the season at a high level.
"The JV teams had a great showing at the West Sioux meet," he continued. "Many had personal best performances. They will finish their season with the Yankton JV meet Tuesday and a JV division at regionals in Lennox."
