VHS tennis team drops match against Washington by Jim Prosser The Vermillion High School girl's tennis team traveled to Sioux Falls Sept. 27 for a match against Sioux Falls Washington.
"It was a good overall showing for us," said VHS girls' tennis coach Barb Rickord. "Maya Ristic had a good win over a strong #1 player, Washington's Katy Jelsma. Catherine Odson also played very well at #2 singles and #1 doubles, as did Tori Collins at #3 in a very close match."

Singles: Maya Ristic (V) def. Katy Jelsma 10-7; Catherine Odson (V) lost to Chris Lanpher
10-1; Laura Brooks (SFW) def. Tori Collins 11-9; Anita Zaska (SFW) def. Jessica Leffers 10-1; Victoria Zawanda (SFW) def. Elizabeth Slagle 10-0; and Rachael Wise (SFW) def. Michelle Rydell 10-4.
Doubles: Ristic/Odson (V) def. Amy Worthington/Lanpher 10-3; Brooks/Zaska (SFW) def. Collins/Slagle 10-1; Zawanda/Wise (SFW) def. Leffers/Rydell 10-2.
JV players � Deanna Russell (V) lost to Amy Worthinton 10-0; and Britt Fremstad (V) lost to Heather Schaffer 8-5.
