Greek community hosts conference The University of South Dakota's Greek community will host the Northern Area Mid-American Greek Council Association (MGCA) Conference on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17, on the USD campus.
The Northern Area is comprised of colleges and universities in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The conference offers Greek memebers a chance to foster relationships through communication, networking and collaboration.
This year's theme, "Greeks: United We Stand, Divided We Fall," is a continuation of the Greek communities' goal of promoting strong roots based on values such as brotherhood, sisterhood, schlarship, service and ritual.
According to Genevieve Evans Taylor, program coordinator for Greek Life at USD, the theme signifies the Greek community's movement back to a more traditional value system and uniting in solidarity in the face of the Sept. 11 tragedy.
"Our Greek community is greatly looking forward to hosting the Area MGCA Conference. This conference is an excellent opportunity for Greek students to develop leadership skills," Evans-Taylor said.
