Kemp will lecture at USD on Nov. 7 South Dakota author David Kemp will lecture at The University of South Dakota on Nov. 7 in Old Main's Farber Hall at 7:30 p.m.
The lecture, based on Kemp's book The Irish in Dakota, is a continuation of the College of Fine Arts' symposium titled "Ireland and the Americas." The symposium is planned for the entire 2001-2002 school year and will include a variety of activities educating students about Irish culture. According to Kemp, his talk is "a historical narrative on the exceptional nature of the Irish community in the Vermillion area." He will highlight the lecture with literary works and music throughout the presentation.
"David Kemp's knowledge of the history of the Irish in this area is both broad and deep," said Dr. Dennis Klein, director of Special Events for the College of Fine Arts and Coordinator for Ireland and the Americas. "He puts into local perspective everything else that follows in this year-long symposium."
