Recent LSS benefit event is successful Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota thanks all who made the recent Southeastern South Dakota Benefit for LSS a success.
More than $8,600 in gifts was given to support LSS services in the area.
LSS thanks the planning committee, table hosts, program volunteers, Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion, and the Vermillion Civic Council.
LSS also thanks the youth from two LSS residential youth centers in southeastern South Dakota for their help in serving during the event � Woodfield Center in Beresford and Summit Oaks Center in Sioux Falls. Also, a special thank you goes to Lutheran Brotherhood Southeast South Dakota Branch #8603 for the generous matching grant awarded to the event.
Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is the largest private non-private social agency in South Dakota with 85 percent of all donations going directly to client services. Last year, LSS served more than 32,000 people through a variety of programs throughout the state.
Local services offered by LSS include adoption, foster care, consumer credit counseling, residential services for youth, rural life ministries, affordable housing, and mental health counseling.
LSS is owned by the SD Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and governed by a 25-member board of directors. LSS is a United Way agency, licensed by the state of South Dakota, affiliated with Lutheran Services in America, and accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children.
