Tanagers topped by Harrisburg Tigers by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers were topped by the Harrisburg Tigers 65-57 in boys� basketball Dec. 7 at Harrisburg.
�We ran into a real good shooting team,� said Vermillion varsity coach Jason Huska. �We hit a stretch where we just could not buy a basket. We got good looks; they just weren�t falling.�
The Tigers ended up hot from three-point range, canning 8 of 14 from long distance.
The Vermillion varsity jumped ahead 16-9 after the first quarter, but was outscored 20-9 in the second period and 21-11 in the third to trail 50-36 going into the final period.
The loss dropped Vermillion varsity to a record of 0-2, while Harrisburg improved to 2-0.
The Vermillion varsity made 7 of 12 free throw attempts. The Tanagers made 22 of 49 field goal attempts, while Harrisburg was 26 of 48 from the field. The Tigers hit 5 of 9 free throw attempts.
