VHS scholars honored as Students of Month Dan Ring and Carrie Engstrom were selected as the November Students of the Month at Vermillion High School.
They were recommended for this award by the faculty for their scholastic and extracurricular efforts. First National Bank in Vermillion will provide them each with a $100 scholarship in recognition of this honor.
Ring has been involved in a variety of activities including cross country, debate, tennis and Student Congress. Community activities include the St. Agnes Youth Group and Boy Scouts.
His parents are Ray and Mary Ring. His present college plan is to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in order to become a software engineer.
Engstrom "has been an honor student throughout her tenure at VHS," according to her faculty endorsement. She has been in basketball, volleyball, track, swing choir, jazz choir, Natural Helpers, musicals, dance team, National Honor Society and German Club.
